Crowd-Funding Campaign Success!

We’ve completed our 28-day Indiegogo Campaign to support Cascade Mountain School’s pilot Semester School. Over the past three years, we’ve successfully executed summer programs and served hundreds of students. We’d like to expand beyond summer to offer a fall Semester School in 2015, and everyday we get closer to that goal.

We need an additional $15,000 to launch our pilot Semester School and to prove to our funding partners we’re on the path to success. With this crowd-funding campaign, we will build grassroots support and funds to make the Semester School a reality. The money we raise here will go towards hiring experienced staff, recruiting great students, and providing needs-based scholarships for students who can’t afford to attend the program. The vision and intention has always been to launch a Semester School, a 16-week immersive course, that would be similar to a term “abroad.” The Semester School model has been proven to have academic advantages, college admission advantages and personal growth advantages for high school students. Our campaign today focuses on launching the Semester School. We have a beautiful campus for our Semester School in Trout Lake, Washington at the base of Mt. Adams. The campus is a rustic camp facility with a mess hall, bunk houses, classroom space, and easy access to Mt. Adams, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and the agricultural valley of Trout Lake.

Cascade Mountain School fills a unique niche in the Pacific Northwest. Although STEM education is getting a lot of attention, very few, if any, programs incorporate natural systems into STEM education. Cascade Mountain School is committed to scientific literacy and systems thinking, two important pillars to an empowered and informed citizenry. No other science education program is committed to these principles and no other outdoor science education program offers credit for their courses, an important element for students and families.
