In this all-day adventure, students along with their parents, teachers, and/or mentors are invited to spend a day outside with experienced Gorge Outside educators. Choose between a day of rockclimbing or a day of rafting down the Klickitat River. Rockcliming guides from Let’s Get Out and Hood River Community Education will teach families to rockclimb at Horsethief Butte at Columbia Hills State Park. Cascadia Kayak School and Cascade Mountain School will take you for a wet and adventurous day on the beautiful Klickitat River. No experience necessary. Funding for the rafting class comes from the Alpinees/Hood River Civil Air Patrol Outdoor Education Fund of the Gorge Community Foundation.
Participants will need to bring a hearty sack lunch. Rafting participants will be required to sign a liability release waiver and need to bring swimsuit, sun hat, sun shirt, sunglasses, closed-toed shoes that can get wet, and a positive attitude. Rockclimbing participants need to bring a backpack that fits their lunch, hat, sunscreen, closed toe shoes, and extra layers to stay warm. More specific details will be provided before the class.
