About Us

At Cascade Mountain School we believe students should be given a real-world context for their learning and be pushed to analyze and synthesize information to understand the world around them. Too often, traditional academic environments can seem irrelevant and meaningless to students. At Cascade Mountain School, we offer a dynamic learning environment, one in which senses are enlivened and academics become relevant to daily life.

Cascade Mountain School is a Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) focused educational program for middle and high school students. An academically rigorous program grounded in ecological and community values, Cascade Mountain School offers students the opportunity to apply scientific and mathematical learning to real-world issues. Cascade Mountain School embraces the arts and humanities and offers a curriculum that expands each student’s personal understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Cascade Mountain School is based in the Columbia River Gorge at the base of Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood along the mighty Columbia. The Columbia River Gorge is its own rich classroom; a place to learn scientific content and principles and grow as a person. The Gorge offers lessons in energy production, food systems, fisheries, tribal issues, and community studies. Not to mention, outdoor enthusiasts love the world class kayaking, kiteboarding, mountain biking and year-round skiing opportunities.

Cascade Mountain School is a project of the Mt Adams Institute. The Institute serves as the fiscal sponsor for Cascade Mountain School and tax-deductible donations can be made to the Institute in support of Cascade Mountain School here (insert donation link to paypal). CMS is working towards becoming an independent 501c3 organization.
